Family Counselling

All families have arguments at some time.  Usually these are easily resolved or blow over, but sometimes they just get worse.  This is when a Relate Family Counsellor can help you work things out in a way that’s best for everyone.

Big changes in a family can cause stress for everyone, long-running disputes can cause pain to the whole family, and the problems one person might be going through can affect their relationships with others.

Family Counselling is for:

  • Families
  • Parents and Children
  • Siblings
  • Blended Families
  • Extended Families

What will happen?

Relate Family Counsellors don’t take sides and won’t tell you what to do.  They will explore with the family the interpersonal relationships and work with you to move away from the problems.

Before beginning Family Counselling you will have an initial consultation.  Following that you set appointments with the counsellor that everyone can attend.  The counsellor might suggest that family members sometimes come alone or in smaller groups or bring other relatives to some sessions.

Is there a charge?

In most cases Relate makes a charge for its services to clients but does not aim to make a profit.  Ask about charges when you contact the Centre.
